Antares
Antares is a Nantucket Clipper 32 from the pen of Alan Buchanan, built in 1976 by Offshore Yachts.

Designed in the days when you didn't have to worry about the ability to reverse in confined space and the dreaded marina managers tape measure she was given a deep long fin keel and a LOA 10ft bigger than her waterline!!

They are heavily built, seaworthy little vessels known for their sea keeping ability and are known to be suited to short handed sailing

Where the idiot comes in
I found Antares in a mud berth, at the top reaches of the River Colne in Essex, UK, late in 2024. Admittedly I wasn't looking for a project, but her lines spoke to me and, love it or hate it
- I personally love it - her Clipper bow and yawl rig laid an expensive seed in my heart.

Her ancient single cylinder had long since given up the ghost. Davits had been forced upon her like the arms of a drunk, the top sides were yellowing, her deck was green, the varnish peeling and a smell of damp below that would make even the most hardened yachtie wince.
She was down but not out.
I fell in love.
With the surprising encouragement of my long suffering partner (I think she wanted me out of the house) I bought her in the Spring of 2025
And the adventure began.........
